Hello from Bariloche, Patagonia Argentina, what a beautiful place in the world. The sad part is the fact that Tom, Glen and I are not supposed to be here. Yes unfortunately we and truck #524 have crashed out of the race as of stage four that started in Jacobacci. There will be much to tell in my complete post race report but for now I want to let everyone at home know that all three of us do not have a single scratch on us.
We are leaving the truck in Jacobacci, this after spending a day and a half camped out next to the truck in the Patagonian high desert. It took us that long to repair and re align the massive front suspension in order to be able to drive the truck out from the crash site.
Our plan now is to catch up to the team in
Sorry for the lack of updates but I really haven’t had the time or place to make it happen.
I am having a great time even though things did not go well with the truck. This has been quite an adventure and it’s not over yet!

You are still not even half way into the event so I am sure you have a lifetime of South American experiences yet to go! Be safe and West Newport is following the action with great interest!!

Please take photos of yourself in that beautiful country so I can post it on my facebook next to your Dakar beach picture. Thank you for assuring all of us at home that you & the guys were unharmed during that crash…Kristin & I still want you to take a picture of your face so we can see for ourselves…ha-ha-ha. The TV coverage is first class. I love the helicopter tracking close-ups. Thanks for supporting Slime. Many Baja 1000 veterans from around the world were glad to see the ReliableLumber/Slime/Kreger/AutoZone Croc on our big banner at the Dakar pre-race check-in process as we presented Slime. 100% of the teams and techs saw the Slime demo and want some!
